Akshay Bharde

Akshay started doing theatre in India around twenty years ago in his first language, “Marathi”. He says that theatre gave his life purpose and as soon as he started doing it, all other aspects of his life became better.

After moving to Sydney, Akshay became a member of The Guild Theatre in 2017. His first production was The Rose Tattoo as a prompt and he also had the opportunity to play two small roles for four shows. Other shows include Boeing Boeing, Thirteenth, and most recently, The Return of The Big Bad Wolf.

Akshay feels that the Guild Theatre is like a second home for him. “All the thespians there are like an extended family for me. I am truly grateful to The Guild Theatre for giving me so many opportunities even though English is my third language.”

“Community theatre gives so many opportunities to local talent and it becomes an open space to experiment with creativity for all people alike.”
