Barry McMaster

Barry’s first appearance in community theatre was in 1969 with Castle Hill Players where, in 1973, he won the Arts Council of Australia, NSW Drama Festival Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Peter Stockman in An Enemy of the People. He was in 12 productions there until 1975 when he married and began a 43 year absence from theatre to pursue a career in business.

After retiring, Barry moved to Southern Sydney where he joined The Guild Theatre in 2017 and returned to the stage. He appeared in two productions in 2018 which rekindled his love for the theatre.

‘I love being part of The Guild Theatre. It is full of exceptionally talented, wonderful people.’ – Barry McMaster
