Veronica Bray-Saville

Veronica first got a taste for the stage doing ballet as a child and then progressing to school musicals. Her first community theatre show was in 1977 when she appeared in the chorus of Mame and she has never looked back. Since then she has performed in many stage plays, musicals, and has choreographed over twenty productions. Behind the scenes has stage managed, operated lighting and sound, worked front of house, and has designed costumes. Both her children caught the bug as well and have performed with her. Her daughter Cherry is a former Guild Theatre member and has since become a professional entertainer.
Veronica’s first show at The Guild was doing backstage for Stepping Out and her first performance was in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. She says that she has too many wonderful Guild Theatre memories to name a favourite but a memory that one stands out. While performing Morning’s At Seven the fire alarm went off. Fortunately, there was no fire but the alarm was not able to be turned off until the emergency services arrived. She says ‘Actors just stood there onstage in a freeze. It was finally turned off but we had to send the audience home. The power had to be turned off, so we sat in the dressing room with torches, telling ghost stories.’
Away from the theatre, her other love is my family. She says she just cant get enough of them. Her ‘downtime zone’ is cooking with a glass of wine and watching a DVD. She has worked in the dental field since 1977.
