Jim Farrow

Jim’s introduction to community theatre was in 1960 when he joined Regals Musical Society for their production of Tulip Time. He did several shows with The Regals before going to Hurstville Musical Society for Kismet and The Student Prince. In 1968 he joined the newly formed Miranda Musical Society for their second production, Pyjama Game, playing the father of well known cimmunity performer Laurel Gee, even though she was actually two years older than her was! In 1975 he joined The Guild Theatre for Three Men on a Horse. He alternated between Miranda Musical Society and The Guild for many years but eventually The Guild won out. Here, Jim has acted, stage managed, set designed, directed, worked in the lighting box, and been the President of the theatre and later Theatre Manager.
 .
‘Today, I am pleased to hear the phrase ‘community theatre’ has replaced ‘amateur theatre ‘. Theatre groups now strive for professionalism. OK, we don’t have the professional push button revolve technology at our disposal but we have community ingenuity to overcome any problems. This is their hobby and they do it well.’ – Jim Farrow
