Margaret Short

Chase Me, Comrade! is Margaret’s first performance with The Guild Theatre. For nearly 30 years she has appeared with several musical societies around Sydney with some of her favourite roles including Mrs Potts in Beauty and the Beast, Sister Mary Hubert in Nunsense, and Jack’s Mother in Into The Woods. In the last few years, she has performed in plays playing the roles of Ruth in Calendar Girls and Jean in Quartet.

Margaret joined The Guild Theatre in 2021 and was promptly put on a front of house roster, which she explains she failed to read. She says she very thankful that someone rang her to remind her that she was required!

Margaret has recently retired from her teaching career and looks forward to travelling outside school holiday periods. She enjoys a good red wine and an even better scotch.

‘As a teacher, you perform in front of a small audience every day. But they don’t like breaking into song during lessons! Hence the need for rehearsals and performances at a community theatre. I love meeting like-minded people who broaden my horizons and share in the joy of a really good spotlight!’ – Margaret Short
