Tim’s very first role onstage was as Jack Frost in his kindergarten production at the age of three. Apparently a love of stage blossomed in his very young head and lead to a life involved with community theatre. Tim has a long but interrupted history with The Guild, starting with A Murder is Announced way back in 1984. ‘Guild and Tim – phase 1’ completed with him playing The Man in Arms and the Man in 1996. Looking back at that time and the many production roles he filled, his favourites include playing Ishmael in Moby Dick – rehearsed, acting with his father onstage for A Voyage Round My Father and lighting The Guild’s production of A Woman for Hanging, an Australian premiere.
At that time, Tim was also very involved with Miranda Musical Society (MMS), a distraction from ‘straight’ plays that grew much worse when he met and fell in love with his wife Sue. A family quickly followed and he pressed the pause button on The Guild. Involvement with MMS continued with Tim lighting shows and playing the roles of Young Ben in Follies and Maurice in Beauty and the Beast. Most recently Tim has taken up direction at MMS, leading their productions of Little Women, Wicked, Snoopy – The Musical, and Jesus Christ Superstar. He also co-wrote and directed the MMS production of Australia Remembers in 1988.
With great joy but no small amount of trepidation after so many years, Tim rejoined The Guild for Chase Me, Comrade! Tim was also selected to director the first production of the 2023 Season, Look Look. He hopes to see you all here.
