Denise Mitford

Denise is an icon in the Performing Arts, having dedicated her life to excellence in directing, choreographing and performing ballet, opera, musical theatre, light opera, and plays. Alongside this, she is renowned for devoting herself to the education of young aspiring artists for over six decades. As a young artist herself, she bravely ventured on a boat passage to join the Royal Ballet in London and throughout her diverse career has proudly created performances in many esteemed theatres, including the Sydney Opera House.

Educational institutions of all levels have benefited from Denise’s experience and expertise including The Australian Institute of Music and the generations of performers that have passed through her Denise Little Academy of Dance and the Carlton School of Performing Arts. Her students have gone on to excel on Broadway and the West End, as well as on national and international tours. Those who have learnt from her have, in turn, brought their own children to Denise for the same life enhancing experience.

Denise is thrilled to re-live the glorious 60’s when the powerful impact of ballet was truly felt throughout society and global politics.
