Neilson first became interested in acting in his mid-20s after a life of severe stage fright. After working as an extra and dabbling in some university productions, he discovered a passion for acting and has embraced it ever since.
Neilson’s career in the theatre began in 2017 when he portrayed Judge Hathorne in The Crucible and Clyde Thestorsen in Helen of Sparta with UTS Backstage. Following these productions, he pushed out into the world of community theatre by portraying Malcolm in Macbeth with the Campbelltown Theatre Group, Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet and Mr Smith in Coming of Age with the Liverpool Performing Arts Ensemble, and Montano in Othello with Streamed Shakespeare. The highlight of Neilson’s theatre career to date, however, is starring as Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Jersey Lily at the Genesian Theatre.
