Rickard Roach

Rickard debuted as Peter Dennis in Mame for Bankstown Theatrical Society back in 1975. He has been going to rehearsals since birth, though no longer in a bassinet, and his earliest memories are of watching his theatrical parents perform and late night, boozy after show parties.

Some of his leading roles include Tony in West Side Story (Morebank High School), Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar (Canterbury Theatre Guild), Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance (CTG and Miranda Musical Society), Ko-Ko in The Mikado (Sutherland Shire Light Opera Co), Kipps in Half a Sixpence (Ashfield Musical Society), Nanki-Poo in Hot Mikado (CTG), Javert in Les Misérables (MMS), Serge in ‘Art’ (Castle Hill Players), Higgins in Pygmalion (CHP), Jake in Jake’s Women (CHP), Oberon in Shakespeare in Hollywood (CHP) and Selznick in Moonlight and Magnolias (CHP).

Rickard’s first and most recent appearance with The Guild Theatre was as Max in Lend Me a Tenor in 1997, where he was sought out for his renowned singing voice. He plans not to wait so long next time.

‘Community theatre is important because it enables me to speak while people listen — I could never get a word in growing up. Plus my usual occupation (formerly an analyst/programmer, now a work-at-home bookkeeper) leaves little room for human interaction.‘ – Rickard Roach
