Tye is a landscape gardener by day and King George VI in this performance. Speaking about his character, Tye says he ‘is essentially a nice guy but he’s dealing with a few issues, which makes him an interesting character to play.’ In his time at The Guild he has enjoyed playing some complex characters. He particularly enjoyed playing Philip Herriton in Where Angels Fear To Tread, whom he describes as ‘quite an arrogant character who softened towards Caroline, his old family friend.’ Tye says the best things about Crown Matrimonial is it’s a ‘good show. An opportunity to do what I love.’
