Anne McMaster

A long standing member, performer, behind the scenes worker, and theatre Secretary, Anne’s first show for the Guild Theatre was Our Town in 1976, where she was prompt. She appeared on stage the following year in Two Dozen Red Roses. Since then she has been onstage in many productions as well as being prompt, stage manager, lighting & sound operator, visual effects operator, assistant to the director, usher, front of house manager, Assistant Secretary on the Committee and she is currently the Secretary of the Guild.

Anne’s favourite appearance on stage with The Guild Theatre was in A Bad Year for Tomatoes, in which she played Myra Marlowe, a famous actress who runs away to the country where she invents a fictitious homicidal sister, whom she keeps in the attic, in the hopes that people might give her a moment’s peace. She says it was a lot of fun.

Never able to be busy enough, Anne is also the Parish Secretary to Father Jerzy Chrzczonowicz at St. Joseph’s Parish Como Oyster Bay and cares for her husband and her dog, in one order or another. She tells us she can’t take on any more because she needs to look after her homicidal sister in the attic.

‘Community Theatre is important to me as I see what we do as providing a very important service to the community by providing affordable entertainment to the Sydney community not just the local community.’ – Anne McMaster
